Ways Ice is Useful in The Household

Let’s put all our dirty thoughts away on the sexual arousal that can be achieved with an ice cube (come on, I know I’m not the only one who thought of this).

But yeah, seriously, if I asked you to list something ice can do right now, what would come out on the top of your mind? Most of you would say that ice:

  • makes ice cream,
  • turns a drink cold,
  • used to blend smoothies,
  • and can relieve pain and numbness after getting hurt.

BUT, there are other uses that you probably haven’t heard of before. And today, you will all be enlightened (you’re welcome).

Remove chewing gum

If you have gum stuck on the ground, or on your clothes you can use an ice cube to easily get it off. The gum will freeze making it hard and simple to scrape off without it sticking to another surface.

Carpet dents

Do you ever move furniture and notice a dent in the carpet afterwards? If it doesn’t go away easily, you can get an ice cube and place it on top of the dented area. It will solve your problem of having a permanent scar on the ground.

Save your rice!

Thank me later.

Yep. That’s right. If you need to reheat your rice but it ends up too dry after microwaving it, you don’t know the “way”. Place a single ice cube on top of your bowl of rice and microwave it. I’m serious, it works. The ice melts while the rice heats up, bringing moisture and restoring your overnight rice.

Skim fat in soup

Have you all seen the video of someone placing this HUGE brick of ice in a hot pot tub? Surprisingly, the ice didn’t melt, and it only picked up the fat like it was some kind of magnet. It’s crazy cool. You can do this while making soup as well. A huge brick of ice isn’t even needed. Just place some ice cubes on a large ladle and move it around the surface of the liquid. It’ll pick up all the fat in a second.

Peel potatoes like an expert

This one is pretty well known actually. After boiling your potatoes it’s usually hard to peel the skin. The solution? Let it soak in ice water for a couple seconds. Easy as potatoes!

Become beautiful

“I use a wash cloth to pick up one ice cube. I then run the ice cube along my entire face until it melts. It does wonders for my complexion, pimples, wrinkles, etc.”

– Karamo Brown

Rubbing ice on your skin is actually really good for you. There are many benefits such as wrinkle prevention, pore and acne reduction, dark circle elimination, glowing skin, etc. Maybe some celebrities look the way they do because they’ve been using the ice cube practice.

Now go out there!
